In the matter of a few seconds, your world comes crashing down around you.
You force yourself onto your feet, despite the pain you feel all over from being tossed around the tower like a ragdoll.
The agony in your heart -- whether because the ice that supports it is starting to thaw, or because you've just lost the most indescribably beautiful, kind, intelligent, talented, uniquely perfect person in existence -- is unbearable. It's confirmation that she really is gone, that soon you'll be joining her.
Good. You refuse to live without her.
Olaf and Marshmallow, though. What about them? They love Elsa, too, but they're her babies. You can't just give up and allow them to die!
"Dunkel!" you shout.
The sorceress is admiring her newfound power, freezing everything she touches.
You stagger towards her and lean on your sword for support.
She smirks at you. "Beautiful, isn't it? This power. So dangerous. So cold."
Gritting your teeth, you find the will to lift your sword and point it at her. "I'll kill you!"
The sorceress cackles. "You can try, my dear." She fires an ice blast at you.
You deflect it with your sword, freezing the spellbook which Dunkel used to take Elsa's magic.
The older woman remains unfazed. "I have no further use for that old thing, anyway."
Growing weaker, you realise your time is limited.
You have to be quick. You can't leave this world knowing Elsa's murderer is alive and abusing her wonderful powers.
Wait. Her powers. They're controlled by love, positive emotions.
The only love Dunkel understands is the 'love' she feels for her daughters. The daughters whose deaths you caused.
"Klaudia," you say, loud enough for the woman to hear. "I was there the night she died."
Dunkel's smug expression becomes a frown. "Wh-What did you say, mortal?"
"Klaudia," you repeat, louder. "I'm the one who let her fall from that cliff. She begged me to save her and I couldn't. I let her die!"
Dunkel's eyes grow murderously wide. "You what? My girl is dead because of--because of you?"
"Yes," you confirm, an almost-sadistic grin plastered across your face as you register the pain in Dunkel's voice. "Me. I killed Klaudia!"
The sorceress lets out an agonised scream as the temperature in the tower begins to fall rapidly.
Your plan is working. She's losing control.
Dunkel attempts to blast you again, but grief has made her sloppy.
"Is that the best you can do?" you ask, taunting her.
She screams in frustration.
"That's it, you old crone! You'll never catch me!" You dodge more of her ice blasts. "By the way, spoken to Heidi and Wilhelmina recently? My sword tells me they got a little 'tangled' out there."
Deciphering the meaning behind your words, the sorceress snaps and propels herself at you, her eyes glowing and body surrounded by some sort of magical blizzard intended to do you harm.
This is your chance.
Inches from each other, Mother Dunkel realises her blizzard is having no effect on you. "What sorcery is this?" she exclaims.
A normal person wouldn't be able to breathe under such intense cold.
You smile and place your free hand over your heart. "Elsa is with me," you say. "Always."
With that, you plunge your sword into the evil witch's chest before she can react, and watch as she crumbles -- screaming and writhing -- into a mere pile of black dust.
You spit on the dust out of contempt. "Rest in pieces, you monster." That's when a sharp pain shoots through your chest.
Your heart.
Elsa.
Taking a deep breath, you muster enough strength to approach the stone table, to where her body lays.
Next, you cut the ropes binding her wrists and ankles, which have been rubbed raw from all the struggling she must've done while still alive.
You're tearful as you plant tender, heartbroken kisses along the raw flesh. Her skin is freezing. Deathly cold.
"Oh, Elsa," you whisper. "I'm so sorry. If only I'd been faster. If only I was stronger. I don't deserve to die beside you. Please, forgive me."
You then hear someone else enter the tower.
Rapunzel and Eugene are climbing in through the alcove.
They call your name once they notice how silent it is.
"Up here," you croak.
The couple rushes to the tower's highest level, expecting to find you and the Queen of Arendelle safe in each other's arms.
"No," gasps Rapunzel, hands flying up to cover her mouth. "Elsa."
As the brunette falls to her knees by your side, you cradle her cousin's lifeless body and kiss the former blonde's forehead. "We'll be together soon, my love," you say softly. "It won't be long."
A hand on his grieving wife's shoulder, Eugene's eyes widen at your words. "Wait. What?"
You can't even look at him. You don't dare tear your eyes away from Elsa.
"Without her powers to keep us alive," you explain, "me, Olaf and Marshmallow are doomed."
Through her sobs, Rapunzel manages to ask you to move aside so she can access her cousin's body.
Although you're compliant, you don't release Elsa's hand.
Rapunzel for whatever reason starts singing.
Magic ice and snow.
Let her power shine.
Make the spell reverse.
Bring back what once was hers.
A tear slides down the princess's cheek and falls directly onto the queen's.
Freeze what has been thawed.
Change the book's design.
Save her heart with frost.

Bring back what once was hers.
What once was hers.
Eugene quickly explains to you the purpose of the song and the three of you wait.
And wait.
But nothing.
Rapunzel's healing incantation hasn't worked.
The princess doesn't take this well.
Her husband immediately wraps his arms around her in an attempt to provide some comfort.
She's desperately wracking her brain for an alternative solution.
Concentrating on Elsa's face, you've managed to block everything out until...
"Hey, guys!" It's Olaf voice. "What's going on up there? Marshmallow and I are kind of--Well, we're melting! Is Elsa alright?"
Your heart sinks. Do you tell them?
They might be naive, but they're not stupid. They know something is wrong. It would be cruel to let them die in confusion without at least getting to see their creator one final time. Plus, it's only right that the three of you go together.
"Help me," you say to Eugene and Rapunzel.
They do.
Eugene grabs a length of discarded rope and secures it to the staircase.
Allowing you to lean on her, Rapunzel leads you to the alcove and assists you in descending the rope.
You're in no condition to carry your beloved, so Eugene does this for you.
Olaf and Marshmallow's faces drop at the sight of him with Elsa dangling limp over his shoulder.
The larger snowman grasps his brother's hand and asks him if their mama is okay, if they, too, are going to be okay.
The smaller snowman doesn't have an answer.
You and Rapunzel arrive at ground level.
Pascal, Maximus and the royal guards ensure that the princess is unhurt.
You slump onto the grass as Eugene places Elsa in Marshmallow's arms.
Remembering that time in the courtyard he accidentally squeezed her unconscious, the snowman is so gentle with her now that it makes you wish you were dead already so you don't have to witness this.
Olaf puts one of his little stick hands on your back. "Thank you," he says.
You don't understand. "For what?"
"For letting us see her. You can't imagine how much it means."
"Oh, Olaf," you breathe, hugging him.
You notice how fast Marshmallow has dissolved since your return. He's become so weak he can no longer hold Elsa anymore and has to lay her down on the grass.
Barely hanging on yourself, you crawl over to her and rest your head on the grass next to hers.
This is how you want to die. By her side.
You accept your inevitable end.
Your peace is then interrupted by an approaching rumbling sound.
What on Earth?
It's familiar somehow.
A set of hooves -- not horse hooves, but reindeer hooves -- combined with the weight of a fully packed sled.
Wait. A sled? In sunny Corona?
The source of the noise comes to a halt when it reaches your location.
You've got to be hallucinating.
Anna and Kristoff. Lukas, as well. They're here.
Exhausted, Sven drops to the ground with his tongue hanging out.
Kristoff dismounts the sled, lifting his wife and son out after him.
He pats the reindeer and apologises for pushing him, insisting that it was necessary and promising to reward him with unlimited carrots.
Rapunzel and Eugene run towards them, attempting to dissuade Anna from taking another step further.
At this, the Princess of Arendelle feels sick with apprehension.
"Why?" she demands, passing Lukas to her husband. "What's happened? Where's Elsa?"
Eugene shakes his head apologetically and Rapunzel takes her cousin's hands in her own.
"Anna, please," she says. "Something terrible has--"
"No!" screams the redhead, yanking her hands out of Rapunzel's and charging towards the tower.
"Anna!" yells Kristoff, his son's tiny grip tightening on his shirt.
The ice harvester, Eugene and Rapunzel make chase.
Anna freezes in her tracks as soon as she sees a pair of figures lying side by side at the tower's base.
You and Elsa.
Marshmallow and Olaf are also nearby, thin and fading, unable to move.
Their deteriorating condition can only mean one thing.
"We're too late," Anna thinks aloud, head spinning with realisation. "She's dead." Her lower lip won't stop trembling as waterfalls begin to erupt from her eyes. "My sister is dead." And then it really hits her. "Elsa is dead!"
Kristoff and the others catch up just in time to witness Anna's emotional breakdown.
"Oh, no," the ice harvester whimpers. "This can't be real. Oh, Anna."
Rapunzel takes Lukas from his father so that the young man can hold his hysterical wife.
Anna's crying rouses you from your stupor.
"Wha--Anna?" you say weakly.
Momentarily pleased by the fact that you're still breathing, the princess gazes at you tearfully. "If--If only we'd gotten here sooner. If only--" She cuts off to bury her face in Kristoff's chest, stifling a strangled cry.
Seeing her suffer like this is awful.
Can't you just die and be done with it?
"Hey, this may not be the best time to ask," Eugene says to Kristoff. "But if you guys are here, then who's running things in Arendelle?"
"The head servants Kai and Gerda," the ice harvester responds, "we left them in charge."
He tells you all that the trolls are the reason he and Anna started tracking your group, that when he went to go speak with them, Pabbie informed him that Mother Dunkel had been a notorious 'collector' of magic for hundreds of years.
Kristoff wasn't surprised. Dunkel's intentions for kidnapping Elsa were no secret.
He then learnt from Pabbie that if the queen lost her powers, the consequences would prove fatal for you, Olaf and Marshmallow. Possibly Elsa, too, if she resisted the transferal ritual.
Upon hearing this, he and Anna couldn't bring themselves to just sit around the castle waiting. They had to help somehow!
And of course, Lukas being reliant on his mother for food, he had to come along.
Anna's aunt and uncle the King and Queen of Corona had been kind enough giving them a map to the tower. That's how they found you.
"Oh, Elsa," croaks Anna, finally managing to semi-compose herself, then leaving Kristoff's embrace to approach her sister's body.
The ice harvester receives his son back from Rapunzel and carries him over to the queen so they can say their last goodbyes.
Everyone present -- the royal guards, Eugene, Rapunzel, Maximus, Pascal -- is bowing their head in a moment of silence, out of respect for the fallen Snow Queen.
Olaf and Marshmallow are so far gone they're practically in comas now.
It's only a matter of time until you're like that.
You watch Anna as she strokes a lock of dark brown hair out your fiancee's pale, lifeless face.
"Elsa?" the princess says in a small voice.
Do you want to build a snowman?
Come on, please, open your eyes.
If only you were here with me.
Why can't you be?
I need you to come back.
Kristoff kneels beside his wife and hands her their son.
Lukas in her arms, Anna leans down to kiss Elsa's forehead.
Our lives will be so empty.
Without you here.
What are we going to do?
Do you want to build a snowman?
It doesn't have to be a--

She's too choked up to finish her sentence.
Breaking into another fit of sobs, the princess doesn't even notice her son's little hand touching his aunt's cheek out of curiosity.
If she had been looking, she would know there's currently a blue glow emanating from the infant's palm.
"Lukas," you gasp, witnessing the whole scene.
Hearing you, everybody else directs their gaze at him to see what it is you're talking about.
Eugene reacts almost the same way he did when he first learned of his wife's healing hair. "What in the name of snowflakes is it with your family and having superpowers?" he asks. "Will our kids--"
Rapunzel hushes him, her eyes fixed on Lukas and Elsa.
The glow from the prince's hand travels to his aunt's head, slowly surrounding the rest of her body in its icy blue light.
Magic?
He's using magic!
Lukas has powers?
A spark of hope ignites a fire within you.
What does this mean for Elsa?
You all wait.
And hope.
And wait.
And hope some more.
You feel as if you're going to black out from how weak your heartbeat has become. But you hold on for Elsa.
Then, something actually happens...
The rope burns on her wrists and ankles start healing.
The colour returns to her skin, especially the slight blush in her cheeks.
And her hair, it's changing from dark brown back to its original platinum blonde.
Lukas then retracts his hand once the magic has taken full effect. Being a baby, his powers are driven purely by instinct. He can't possibly understand the enormity of what he's done for his family.
Overwhelmed with a mixture of emotions, Anna stares at her sister uncertainly. "Elsa?"
The blonde's eyes flutter open, revealing blue irises which are brimming with renewed life. "An-Anna?" Her voice is hoarse. "Was I--Did--"
Handing her son to his father, Anna dives into Elsa for a hug, bawling uncontrollably.
The older sister smiles and strokes the redhead's hair to soothe her. "My," she says, scanning her surroundings. "We've quite an audience."
"Elsa," you manage to utter, weak but oh-so happy to hear her speak. "A little help?"
Noticing the states you, Olaf and Marshmallow are in, the queen is dismayed. "Hang on, guys," she says reassuringly.
With a wave of her hand, Elsa restores the snowmen's bodies back to how they were, re-freezing your heart in the process.
"We're alive!" cheers Olaf, hugging Marshmallow. "Hooray!"
The rest of your friends -- including the royal guards -- join in on the cheering.
You're feeling strong again. Enough to do what you've been aching to do for days.
Elsa is taken by surprise when you begin smothering her in kisses, not caring who's watching.
She loves it, anyhow. She doesn't want you to stop.
"Don't ever," you say between a kiss, "do that," and another kiss, "to me again."
Despite enjoying the attention of your lips, the blonde places both hands either side of your face and looks straight into your eyes, smiling.
"I promise," she says. "So long as you don't impale yourself on any swords in future, I won't get myself kidnapped by another power-stealing sorceress."
You chuckle at her words. "Deal."
After saving Princess Anna, Queen Elsa is forever indebted to you.
